AUSTIN The State Board of Education on Friday revoked the charter of a financially troubled charter school in Waco and tentatively approved new rules that are expected to speed up revocations in the future.

An administrative law judge cited a number of problems at the Waco school including an insurmountable budget deficit, failure to pay employees and missed payments to the Internal Revenue Service and Teacher Retirement System. School officials Friday filed for a rehearing on the revocation.
