The date tag on this email is May 5th 2010 4:45 pm so there is not question the email was meant as a slander against the teacher. It was this very email that sparked such an angry response from the students at the school.

Dear Parents,
As you all know we are going through hard times. We believe that State Charter Board‘s reasoning to propose the revocation of our charter is not substantiated and hoping that their decision will be reverted soon. In a time of recession and dwindling funding for public programs, including education, I suspect that Beehive may not be the only school with serious financial problems. Moreover, Beehive has improved the budget to have no deficit in this fiscal year and the next. Beehive is a successful charter school and might be singled out for the bad publicity appeared in the news media in recent months. I’d like to assure you that this decision is not final because there are still three more steps in the appeal process (informal hearing by state charter board, appeal to state board, and law suit in the District Court). I believe that the state Charter board has used old financial data to come to their conclusion. In the mean time we, all staff, parents and students, need to be united and keep the moral up.

Unfortunately, while trying to keep things together, I heard from the parents, students, and staff that Mrs. Hamilton is working against the school’s best interest to lure students and teachers to another school (supposedly she is starting or already started one) and this is happening still in the school’s facility while the school is open and no final determination is made yet. In consultation with the board I’ve suspended her for the reason above, from school grounds till our investigation is over.

During this time, Mrs. Ho, a former Beehive staff who agreed to work here next year, will be covering some of Mrs. Hamilton’s classes, starting next week.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks.

--
Murat Biyik, Principal
Beehive Science & Technology AcademyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7191988759715347962.post-86568164893240236292010-06-11T14:21:13.450-07:002010-06-11T14:21:13.450-07:00http://www.sltrib.com/D=g/ci_15272645

It was the first time in the board's six-year history it had decided to shut down an operational school.

Afterward, Beehive's administration complained the decision was based on outdated financial reports without an opportunity to update state officials.

On Thursday, the charter board had an informational hearing with the school. The board voted to keep the academy open but on probation.

The board plans to discuss the terms of Beehive's probation on July 15.

"Beehive is pleased with the Charter School Board's decision to affirm Beehive's charter," Principal Murat Biyik said via e-mail on Thursday. "We are excited and confident that our faculty and our students and their families will work to make the 2010-2011 school year the best yet."The Perimeter Primatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12619173438763495716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7191988759715347962.post-24214967639341236392010-06-09T13:07:17.335-07:002010-06-09T13:07:17.335-07:00If you dgo back and read the article and the comme...If you dgo back and read the article and the comments. A few of the kids chimed in to straiten the facts out. They were not protesting the colosing of the school. School principal had lied to the media. They were protesting the firing of the teacher who wanted to open another school. The principal of the school had sent out a mass email to the parents slamming her for doing so. I would love for anyone who has a copy of that email to please forward this in.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7191988759715347962.post-40164320041979759472010-06-03T07:58:35.577-07:002010-06-03T07:58:35.577-07:00Update after investigation:
